Welcome to Midnight Shift Studio, a small design studio a small design studio conceived by Jeff Golenski. What can you find here? A lot of things. Mainly this site serves as my portfolio, which consists of all my design endeavors (web, screen, print, etc), development project, photographs & photo manipulations. This site also serves as my personal blog, where I'll be documenting many interesting Internet artifacts I happen to come across... but I have to warn you... I find everything interesting.
Midnight Shift Studio is located in historical New Bedford, Massachusetts, a small city located just southeast of Providence, Rhode Island. I'm currently a one-man operation while I finish my studies at Johnson & Wales University.
I play a primary role as a web interface designer & front-end web developer. I hand-craft modern web sites with a focus on accessibility, functionality, usability, and aesthetic value. My sites are hand coded, because my organizational skills & attention to detail are fervent - I ensure there isn't one line of code out of place. My skill set is dynamic and I'm always willing to learn that in which I don't know.
I'm well versed in Brand / Corporate Identity, User Interface Design, Front-end Web Development, Content Management Systems, Search Engine Optimization, and much more. If you have any specific questions, or you're interested in hiring me, please contact me!
I love what I do.
I'm a digital native; I was born into the world as consumer digital technologies began to appear & the internet began to sprout. Ergo I have a keen interest in every facet of technology, which led to my interest in design. Whether it be web design, print design, industrial design, architectural design, or even automotive design, I'm there.
While I think it's important to maintain professionalism with the individuals & companies I work with, I'm also a firm believer in being a real person. What do I mean by that? Case-in-point: Call up the support line of anyone of the electronics in your home. You'll either get a machine, or a person who talks like one. That's not me. For starters, I'm not monotone. Nor do I lack personality! I do however have a ridiculous sense of humor like that typical Uncle Bob everyone seems to have.. You know... the one who likes to crack inappropriate jokes at the family reunion dinner? No, no.. I'm kidding.
When I say I'm an alumni of Johnson & Wales University, most people all people immediately say "OHHH, you're a chef?!" My response to this statement is simply "Nope." This often leaves the person whom I've engaged in conversation, very confused. Please allow me to explain... If you're familiar with the area at all you're probably under the impression that JWU is strictly a culinary school, but that's a common misconception.
Among others, JWU also has a school of technology, where I received my Associate's of Science in Web Development in 2007 and my Bachelor's of Science in Graphics & Digital Media in 2009. Summa Cum Laude I might add (both degrees). Check out my resume for more information (pdf)!

I've been working as a Professional Web Interface Designer & Front-end Developer since 2004 when I joined the BayNet Web Services team. Although I still work for BayNet, creating web sites for local small businesses, I'm able to expand my creativity on larger projects through Schwadesign, Inc., an award-winning adaptive collaborative model studio in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
